DONALD KOOP AND BOOTS ON THE GROUND
By Donald Koop

[Editor’s Note: FAIRtax activist, Donald Koop, lives in the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia and has an interesting plan to help FAIRtax grassroots supporters raise our profile, make some noise, and have fun doing it! Here’s what Donald writes.]

I have been working on a way to get “boots on the ground” in front of the District (i.e., local) Offices of Members of Congress (“MC’s”) in sufficient strength to make them listen to what we have to say.

My project is a pilot, using the VA-06 and surrounding segments of the extensive AFFT national database. I organize the records for all these supporters according to where they live, and plan to mobilize the supporters to picket those Members of Congress who do not support the FAIRtax.

I developed methods to determine how many supporters in the database live within certain distances of the local offices of any MC. Some Congressional Districts don’t have enough supporters to make the effort worthwhile and will not be pursued. A basic rule of our action is never to approach an MC with underwhelming support. Other Congressional Districts will become our targets.

I have proposed that a group, “Boots on the Ground,” be created in our internal Social Media page, “FAIRtax USA.” This group will be for FAIRtax volunteers who wish to join me in this effort. We will plan to meet online and to discuss procedures and strategy. Watch for the group and join with me! At the moment, I’m working on Virginia residents. If successful, we can take this project nationwide.

After receiving his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Maine in 1962, Donald worked at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY for 30 years. Now living in Roanoke, VA, Donald has been a strong supporter of the FAIRtax since 2004, serving in several capacities. Donald has been disgusted with the lack of credibility given to us by politicians in Washington and recently has applied his math skills to determine just how much support we have through our national database and how we can use it to bring more pressure on the politicians.

CALL FOR PICTURES AND WRITEUPS

We need MORE of you to send in pictures and news.  If you have anything to share, please send your material to me at jim.bennett@fairtax.org, or text me at (908) 578-4975, or fax me at (908) 598-2888. When others see your activity, they are inspired, and the process snowballs. When the process snowballs, Congress Members and Senators and, yes, even the President start to listen.
