Texas' Warning Shot To “The Ruling Class”

Texas, the Lone Star state, has long been associated with men wearing cowboy hats and boots, oil and cattle ranches.

Texas is the second largest state by area and the second most populated state in the country with a population of 28,701,845.  In 2018 it had a $1.8 trillion gross state product (GSP).  Texas’ GSP is greater than the gross domestic products of Canada, Russia, South Korea and Spain combined.  It is estimated that 1,000 people are moving to Texas every day.

On November 5th, Governor Abbott, a bi-partisan group of Texas legislators and over 74% of Texas voters passed Proposition 4, a state constitutional amendment that says the following:

"The Constitutional Amendment Prohibiting The Imposition Of An Individual Income-Tax, Including A Tax On An Individual’s Share Of Partnership and Unincorporated Association Income".

Texas Governor Abbott said: "Today's passage of Prop. 4 is a Victory for taxpayers across the Lone Star State.  I am grateful to Rep. Jeff Leach for his bold leadership on this issue, and for the overwhelming majority of Texans who voted to ensure our great state will always be free of a state income-tax.  This ban on such a disastrous tax will keep our economy prosperous, protect taxpayers, and ensure that Texas remains the best state to live, work, and raise a family".

Not Just Republicans Voted For The Amendment

The members of “The Ruling Class”, who really control “The Swamp”, are not happy when a state or its voters don’t immediately see the wisdom of just accepting their candidates and directions.  They attribute this “lack of wisdom” to an uprising of uneducated people who just don’t understand “The Ruling Class” knows best. They label these people “Walmart Shoppers”.

“The Ruling Class” is really appalled by the bi-partisan nature of the Texas “revolt”.  In this case, it was not just the “Walmart Shoppers”.

Article 17 of the Texas Constitution sets forth the requirements for enacting amendments.  It provides:

  • A proposed amendment must get 2/3 of all the members of both houses of the legislature
  • If passed by a majority of the voters, then it is ratified

In 2019, there are 31 members of the Texas Senate, 19 Republicans and 12 Democrats.  There are 150 members of the Texas House of Representatives, 82 Republicans and 68 Democrats.  This means  21 Texas Senators and 100 members of the Texas House of Representatives must vote to approve an amendment going on the ballot for voter approval.

Since at least 2 Democrats had to vote with the 19 Republicans in the Texas Senate, and at least 18 Democrats had to vote with the 82 Republicans in the Texas House, it really was bi-partisan.

The fact over 74% of Texas voters voted for the amendment is also very upsetting to “The Ruling Class”.  Are there that many “Walmart Shoppers” in Texas?  Or could the disease affecting “Walmart Shoppers” be spreading to other people as it appears to be in Texas?

Texas is becoming more and more dominant economically and Texans proclaim a major reason for their success is Texas Doesn’t have a state-income-tax.  What message does this send to the voters in Alabama & Georgia who are considering amendments to replace their present state-income-tax-systems with a new retail sales tax on all new goods and services?

In both cases, the new tax proposals are based on The FAIRtax model, including the prebate.  So, when these proposals pass, consumers in Alabama & Georgia will no longer be subject to state withholding from their paychecks, plus they will be getting a tax refund every month to reimburse them for the taxes paid on the basic necessities.  A true win-win situation!

Alabamans & Georgians are promoting their own State "Fair Tax" legislation because they want to enjoy the same Successful economic growth as Texas.

Conclusion

Yes, Texans have sent a message to “The Ruling Class”, but “The Ruling Class” is much more worried about the message Texas just sent to the rest of the country.  Texas just served notice that the State of Texas will continue to have a huge economic advantage over the 41 other states imposing a state-individual-income-tax.  With the passage of Proposition 4, people looking to relocate to Texas can be assured it will be very unlikely they will ever become the victims of a state-income-tax.

Why have so many large companies decided to flee from New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago to Texas?  One of the major reasons is every one of the employees who relocated to Texas received a significant increase in their take-home pay because there is no state-income-tax in Texas.  Additionally, most were able to either reduce their housing costs or afford a much more spacious home in Texas for the same money they were spending before.

While “The Ruling Class” may be confident “The Swamp” controls the D.C. politicians, they now have to worry the states may start acting in ways that benefit their own residents and not “The Ruling Class”.  This is truly heresy and I know it makes you smile like your favorite emoji 😊.

Isn’t it time the rest of us said to “The Ruling Class”, “Let’s energize the entire United States in the same way that not having an income-tax has helped Texas.  Pass The FAIRtax, the only “Fair tax”!

Also it's time for Congress to have serious discussions about replacing the FAILED income-payroll-tax-system with The FAIRtax, the only truly "Fair tax"!

The author George Bernard Shaw said these words in a play he wrote, You see things; and you say “Why?”  But I dream things that never were; and I say “Why not?”

Isn’t it time for us to ask, “Why not?”

President Trump, “Embrace the FAIRtax, the only Fair Tax the only fair tax and the only real tax reform!  Stand up to the Swamp.  They will oppose you anyway because they see you as a threat.  What have you got to lose?”

The truth is the truth.  Remember, if we don't continue to tell the truth and demand a change, then this quote from George Orwell's 1984 may foretell our children's future:

“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever.”

This week's Episode #186 - "The Real Cost of Free Stuff"

Some of the presidential candidates are promising free health insurance, free college tuition, guaranteed jobs, a universal basic income, the Green New Deal and… did I miss anything?  And it will be paid for just by taxing the rich.

However, in a recent Chairman’s Report by Steve Hayes, President of Americans For Fair Taxation, he highlights a recent article by David Burton entitled “It Is Arithmetically Impossible to Fund the Progressive Agenda by Taxing the Rich”.  According to Mr. Burton, it cannot be done.

The FAIRtax Guys look into the claims and counter claims to see who is correct and what else may be up the sleeve of the candidates.  For instance, is all this promise of “free stuff” just a ruse to implement an additional taxing system?  Would you like to see a federal sales tax ADDED TO the current income-tax?

The race for the White House is reaching a fevered pitch and promises of the easy life must be carefully examined for their hidden agendas.  You better sit down for this episode of FAIRtax Power Radio.

There’s always more in FAIRtax Power Radio such as a reminder of the promotional items available now at Our Store and a review of Jim Bennett’s Grassroots Corner Report.

What Can Each Of Us Do?

Call the local and DC offices of your Representative and 2 Senators.  Use the following script:

  • I am sure Representative ____ or Senator ____ is in favor of everyone obeying the income tax laws.
  • After they assure you their boss is not in favor of anyone breaking the law, ask if they are aware of the Cebula study showing $9 trillion of evaded income-payroll taxes over the next 10 years.
  • Since most will say they don’t believe their boss has seen the study, drop off a copy, email a copy or click Read Evasion Study Summary and copy/paste the link into an email.
  • Say you are going to call back in a week and ask what the Representative or Senator is going to do to stop this evasion.
  • In a week, call back and ask specifically what the Representative or Senator is going to do to enforce the law.
  • They probably will say their boss believes simplifying the income tax will handle the problem.
  • Explain, when people evade income taxes, they are also evading the 15.3% payroll/Medicare tax and state income tax.  So, it’s unlikely they are going to pay 30-40% when they were paying 0% because they have already decided it’s okay to cheat.
  • Say, the only way to reduce evasion is to increase by tens or hundreds of thousands the number of comprehensive IRS audits done each year.
  • Point out Evaders do not self-identify by putting an “E” on their income tax return.
  • 80% of the people likely to be audited are trying to comply, but they will be forced to endure these IRS audits as well.
  • Ask if the Member is in favor of this?
  • If they say no, then ask again how the Member proposes to stop people breaking the income tax laws.
  • Then explain the way to handle evasion without unleashing the IRS audits is The FAIRtax.
  • If you meet with your Representative or attend a town hall and ask these questions, you will be even more effective.
