MEET RANDY HAUCK

Editor’s note: Randy Hauck reached out to us from Burke, Virginia, located in Fairfax County and Virginia’s 11th Congressional District. Randy’s report of his activity there sets an example for Grassroots volunteers in all 434 other Congressional districts in the United States. Randy writes:

I am continuing to promote the FAIRtax and have given out palm cards to a good number of people. This includes some waiters/waitresses in restaurants in Pittsburgh area near Carnegie and locally here in Fairfax area. I gave them a card and told them that the FAIRtax is far better than “no tax on tips” and asked them to share it with others.

[Editor’s note: you can order palm cards and other supplies at https://fairtaxstore.org/. They are free, shipping included.]

I also shared that this fight is with Congress, and it helps to get the word out. In addition, I put a visible display holder for palm cards in a local restaurant.

Everyone I spoke with was interested in the FAIRtax. They understood the positive impact it would have in drastically simplifying the tax system for everyone. It would turn April 15 into just another lovely spring day. Taxpayers everywhere would no longer have to bear the burden of filling out tax returns. The time, money and effort that people now spend telling the government all the intimate details of our personal finances could now be spent on their families and enabling more people to be able to help others.

I have posted a good number of comments about the FAIRtax on Facebook. Here is a comment I made under the posting eliminating the Virginia Car Tax,

"Also please consider The FAIRtax which eliminates a number of duplicative and redundant taxes and reduces the taxes we currently pay”. HR 25 The Fair Tax Act in Congress. Worth the effort to research and share the information. This is a consumption-based tax and would rid everyone of April 15th Tax Day and the thousands of pages of complex tax codes with special exemptions that do not apply to everyone. No more need for the IRS."

Other reviewers posted 90 likes, 9 loves and 3 laughs (think the 3 laughs were from unbelievers).

I recently attended a Republican Braddock District breakfast that was attended by over one hundred people. This included other Republicans, some Fairfax County Tax Alliance members and other candidates running for office. The organizer said I could put palm cards out on the tables and he would also give me two minutes to talk at future monthly breakfasts. I will also check with other districts to see if they will allow me to do that at their breakfasts or events. I’m currently considering expanding to farm markets and other events for one-on-one engagements.

I am hoping to rally up more support. I want to educate, inform and inspire as many people as possible to support the FAIRtax. Hopefully, this will result in more FAIRtax sponsors from Virginia. I would note that we do have Stewart L. Whitson running in a special election to flip the Congressional seat vacated by the late Gerry Connolly. Connelly was an ultra-liberal who successfully raised northern Virginia taxes for decades. [Editor’s note: Whitson lost the September 9, 2025, special election to Democrat James Walkinshaw. You can contact Walkinshaw in D.C. at (202) 225-1492 or in his district office at 10680 Main Street, Suite 140, Fairfax, VA  22030, (703) 256-3071, and urge him to support and cosponsor HR25, the Fair Tax Act of 2025.]
Also, I have found and will continue to locate places where I can successfully post FAIRtax signage in good visible locations without having liberals take them. “Please consider adding more pertinent facts to signs and to palm cards. It will get others engaged much more quickly.  Please ensure font is large enough to be easily read on palm cards and other items.

Campaign wise, the FAIRtax would spread like wildfire as it instantly connects with voters and hardworking taxpayers. I have been sharing this information with over several hundred people, and it resonates with them - with the exception of the few who actually benefit from the current tax system.

If enacted, the FAIRtax could quickly help bring much needed relief to the same people that FAIRtax organizers have been working so hard to represent. When you think of all the time, productivity and costs it takes for everyone to do their taxes, it’s amazing that the FAIRtax wasn’t adopted long ago.

Randy is currently retired and volunteers with the Fairfax County Tax Alliance and for FAIRtax. He previously served as the principal Staff Action Control Officer to the Army Chief Information Officer at Headquarters Department of the Army. Randy had other supporting roles at the Pentagon. He provided leadership for The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, 3rd U. S. Infantry, the Army’s Official Ceremonial Unit and Escort to the President.

We thank Randy for this extraordinary work in his D.C. suburb. If you don’t have Randy’s time and energy, any one of these activities you choose to undertake would promote our goal of public education. I would love to hear about your progress and feature you in a future Grassroots Corner.
