CALL FOR ACTION: STELSON ATTACKS SCOTT PERRY FOR SUPPORTING THE FAIRTAX
If you live in Pennsylvania, especially near the state capital, Harrisburg, we need your help. According to a recent Breitbart article by Jasmyn Jordan, Democrat congressional candidate Janelle Stelson, is dishonestly attacking incumbent Representative Scott Perry in Pennsylvania’s Tenth Congressional District for his support of the FAIRtax. Perry is a current cosponsor of HR25, the Fair Tax Act of 2025.
Jordan notes that, not surprisingly, Stelson’s advertisements don’t tell the whole story about the FAIRtax. They don’t mention that the legislation would eliminate federal income, payroll, estate, and gift taxes and dismantle the IRS. You can read the article here:
Stelson is running multiple advertisements accusing Perry of supporting a “huge new tax that makes everything more expensive and hits working people the hardest.” One advertisement, according to Jordan, displays a four-line summary of the FairTax Act of 2025 but blurs the entire summary except for the words “enacting a national sales tax to be administered.”
Stelson, according to the article, leaves out the fact that the FairTax Act also provides a tax rebate that requires individuals to have a Social Security number and be lawful residents. The legislation is intended to be revenue neutral, meaning the total amount of taxes collected would remain the same.
So, what can you do to help? If you are a Social Media warrior, pull out all stops. You can comment on Scott Perry’s Facebook page supporting his position at https://www.facebook.com/ScottPerryforCongress. You can comment on Stelson’s Facebook posts at https://www.facebook.com/janellestelson/ criticizing her opposition.
Jasmyn Jordan covered many of the talking points for your comments in her Breitbart article, but here are a few (FAIRtax cannot support or oppose either Janelle Stelson or Scott Perry, but we can comment on their views of the FAIRtax):
- Candidate Stelson has her hand in your pocket and wants to keep taxing your paycheck. She doesn't want you to know that Scott Perry’s proposal, the FAIRtax, will let you keep your whole paycheck (minus Pennsylvania deductions that Scott doesn't control). Still, the FAIRtax funds federal programs as fully as they are funded today.
- The Payroll Tax is the most regressive tax in U.S. history. The poorest of the working poor pay 7.65% in Payroll Tax and also pay most or all of the employer’s 7.65% at the cash register. Stelson supports the tax that demonstrably has the weakness she accuses the FAIRtax of having.
- The FAIRtax removes income and payroll taxes from businesses, allowing them to sell you goods and services at a lower pre-tax sales price. Competition will push businesses to lower prices.
- Stelson does not want you to know about the FAIRtax’s advance monthly refund from the Social Security Administration. This refund covers taxes on essentials up to the poverty level. Up to that level, no lawful U.S. resident pays federal tax. Above that level, lawful residents pay tax on consumption, which they control.
- The FAIRtax eliminates the annual income tax return filing and the IRS. The tax is collected when you, as a consumer, use a service or buy a new tangible good at retail.
- The FAIRtax removes the income tax’s deadweight on the economy that punishes saving and work. It creates hope, growth, and opportunity.
