FAIRTAX AT THE UNION COUNTY, NEW JERSEY, REPUBLICAN CONVENTION
Even in blue New Jersey, the FAIRtax is gaining momentum. That was clearly seen at the Union County New Jersey Republican Convention, where we had a table. The convention takes place each year to decide which federal, state, and county candidates will receive the county’s Republican endorsement. This year, elected committee members voted for candidates in contested races as well as on questions like changes to the county bylaws. Voting took place on machines in a gymnasium opposite the auditorium where committee members hear speeches.
The FAIRtax table was one of two principal tables in the gymnasium. The other significant table was that of a gubernatorial candidate.
The sign-up sheets were the most essential item. When someone signs the sheet, we send the information to our database manager, Adam Yomtov, at iwanttaxreform@gmail.com. Those who sign up then receive weekly exposure to the FAIRtax message, and it starts to register.
This year, we had a record nineteen sign-ups in about an hour, compared to five last year. There would have been even more if we had had more time. The "get rid of the IRS" message resonated – even in blue New Jersey!

Although we were at a political event, FAIRtax is single-issue and nonpartisan. We do not endorse political parties or candidates, but we gladly appear as guests at events of any lawful and reputable political party and welcome support from its members.
