RANDY HAUCK DOESN’T REST

Randy Hauck, Left, with colleagues
We received a new report from our Virginia volunteer, Randy Houck, who recently joined us. We had reported his activity in our Grassroots Corner last September. As you can see, Randy has not stopped.
The first order of business is to congratulate Randy. He has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Fairfax (Virginia) County Taxpayers Alliance (“FCTA”). FCTA supports other initiatives besides the FAIRtax, but having Randy on the board ensures that the FAIRtax will be included in their program.
Randy recently gave the members of his county’s Board of Supervisors a grade. One of the board members is a fiscally prudent official who, presumably, would be open to the FAIRtax message. Randy is less sanguine about the other members of the Board of Supervisors and his county School Board.
The FCTA initiated its first outreach program at the Burke Center Farm Market and has since expanded to other Fairfax County farm markets. The objective each time is to educate and inform Fairfax County taxpayers and residents about the harmful effects of high taxes and provide guidance on how they can address this problem.
Randy registered at least thirty visitors at Burke Farm Market. Those visitors included couples, parents, homeschoolers, and a young gentleman who was being homeschooled and not yet of voting age. The young gentleman listened attentively, asked numerous questions, and eagerly absorbed the information. Many people took printed pieces corresponding to their interests. The visitors were all passionate about the harmful impact of the tax hikes on their lives and showed interest in FCTA.
Randy had a FAIRtax sign and FairTax palm cards at each FCTA display.

He spoke with several people about the FAIRtax and noted that one gentleman was excited to see the sign. He had been aware of FAIRtax for several years. Randy gave him an update.
Meanwhile, the FCTA has made appearances at five more farm markets and interacted with many people. FAIRtax signs and palm cards were prominent at each location.
FCTA plans to have its canopy and table in the center brick area of the Fairfax County Government Center regularly. At that location, Randy has four FAIRtax signs in prominent positions across from the main entrance of the Government Center. More signs are on order.

Randy notes, “If you want something you've never had, you must be willing to do something you've never done.” Randy is a model for that call to action.
If you are undertaking any activity similar to Randy Hauck’s, I would love to hear from you.
