MEET DAVE HEIDBREDER
We stumbled across a FAIRtax supporter in the Midwest. Dave Heidbreder of Olney, Illinois has been sold on the FAIRtax for over twenty years – and we hardly knew it. Dave learned about the FAIRtax by reading three books.
Dave considers himself to be a conservative Independent, who is very concerned about all the debt our government is accumulating. He feels strongly that, with all the corruption in politics, we need the FAIRtax now more than ever. Dave is motivated to helping see that the FAIRtax passes in his lifetime.
He doesn’t just sit around and think about the FAIRtax, he takes action. He has written numerous letters to Congressional representatives. As you might expect, many of the responses he’s received are just generic form letters that don’t really address the points he’s making. That can be really frustrating, but still Dave persists.
We commend Dave for his persistence and perseverance, even when it feels like he’s not really accomplishing much. But the truth is, he IS making progress. Members of Congress DO pay attention when constituents make the effort to contact them.
For that reason, we strongly encourage all FAIRtax supporters to reach out to their Congressional representatives and make sure they understand that we expect them to act in our best interests and pass the FAIRtax. If enough of us talk, they’ll listen.

Dave is retired and, when he’s not busy promoting the FAIRtax, he enjoys golfing, fishing, reading and walking his dog Dodge in addition to spending more time doing chores around the house.
So how did we find Dave? We received notice that Dave was making a monthly donation to support the FAIRtax. Adam Yomtov, our website, database and payment processing manager in New York State, sent him the usual thank-you message. Most people don’t respond to that message, but Dave did.
Dave says he decided to put his money where his mouth is and made the monthly commitment. He’s knows he’s helping, but modestly feels like it’s not a great deal. But he is mistaken. The truth is that every donation, no matter how insignificant one thinks it may be, helps keep the FAIRtax movement alive.
Even though we are all volunteers, FAIRtax still has recurring expenses such as a platform for our website and database, auditing, and insurance. These may seem like rather mundane items, but without them, we could not continue to bring you the Chairman’s Report, Grassroots Corner, have a social media presence, or provide insurance for your FAIRtax events.
Dave has an interesting essay about A Tale of Two Countries. Do you think one of the countries has a tax system like the FAIRtax? If you would like a copy, I will be glad to put you in touch with him.
Dave, and people like him, keep us going. Do you know a Dave? If you do, I would love to hear from you about him or her.
Yours In the FAIRtax Movement!
