MEET WILLIE HOUSTON
The FAIRtax movement has benefited from gifted leadership, but the aging of its board members has been a challenge. To address this issue, the previous Board of Directors has been actively recruiting the next generation of leaders. The new leaders have become the new Board of Directors, and the immediate past Board of Directors is now the Executive Board.
This Grassroots Corner continues this series of introductions with Willie Houston. Willie Houston III currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Paceline Equity Partners. Prior to joining Paceline, Willie was a Partner and Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer at Satori Capital, a Texas-based multi-strategy investment fund. At Satori he was responsible for all financial, legal, technology, administrative, and investor relations functions for the firm.
Prior to this, Willie was Senior Director of Financial Operations at TPG, a leading global private investment firm with more than $200 billion of capital under management. Willie led a global team of finance professionals that supported the firm through its rapid growth and evolution from a pure private equity investor to a diverse asset manager with businesses specifically focused in areas such as credit, real estate, equity securities, and energy.
Prior to joining TPG in 2008, Willie was a member of the business advisory practice at Ernst & Young. From 2000-2006, Willie was a Manager in the corporate audit function at BNSF Railway, a Financial Analyst at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, and a Financial Analyst at AT&T.
He serves on the board and facilities committee of Cook Children’s Health Foundation and also serves on the board of the Texas Family Initiative.
Willie received a MBA in Operations Management from the University of Texas at Arlington and a BBA in Accounting from Jackson State University. Willie is also a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and holds a Series 27 Financial and Operations Principal designation.
Willie and his wife, Jada, have 3 sons, ages 22, 17, and 10. Willie enjoys traveling with his wife, and playing the saxophone. Willie is also a car enthusiast.
