MEET NIKKI EGAN

Nikki Egan is our newest leader in Mississippi. As Administrative Assistant to Alan Ramsay, Mississippi’s FAIRtax Leader, Nikki is helping to energize our presence there.
A former Mississippi high school English teacher, Nikki accompanied her active-duty military husband to his assignments in England and Germany. While in Germany, Nikki started importing conger eel skin accessories – ladies' purses, belts, and wallets - from South Korea into Germany.
Nikki quickly learned two points about taxation when importing goods into Germany. South Korean goods attracted import duties when arriving for sale in Germany – i.e., a tariff payable to the German government. Secondly, at the end of the tax year, her goods were subject to German income tax – and amazingly – also subject to American income tax! Very few Americans are aware that the U.S. Internal Revenue Service taxes the worldwide income of American citizens, no matter where their foreign income is derived. Few other nations tax their citizens’ worldwide income.
In 2013, Nikki started reading about the FAIRtax and became involved. We provided her our list of 613 Mississippians who have shown interest in the benefits of the FAIRtax. Nikki now assists Alan Ramsey with the FAIRtax in Mississippi. Nikki’s goal, as Mississippi’s FAIRtax administrative assistant, is “to create many mini leaders for the FAIRtax movement.” Indeed, we need those folks.
During her advocacy for the FAIRtax, Nikki notes that a simple explanation, requiring only two or three minutes of time, can turn an individual who has never heard of the FAIRtax into an enthusiastic advocate. When people assert that the FAIRtax will never pass, that comment only steels her resolve.
Michael Guest, R-MS-03, is currently Nikki’s Congressional Representative. In response to her requesting Representative Guest to cosponsor the FAIRtax Act of 2025, Representative Guest offered a pro forma response that he “would give the FAIRtax his “full attention if it came up.” Nikki encourages each mini FAIRtax Leader reading this to contact their representative and our state senators with encouragement to enact the FAIRtax.
When not advocating for the FAIRtax, Nikki spends her time (and money) on her multi-year home renovation project in Brandon. She loves the stock market and antiques. Nikki’s personal dream came true when she was able to live in England, where she volunteered as a docent and public relations assistant for Britain’s largest charity, The National Trust.
Others who would like to plan an active role in spreading the word about the FAIRtax, don’t hesitate to contact either Nikki at FAIRtax.Mississippi@Yahoo.com or contact us through the website at www.FAIRtax.org.
