The Americans for FAIR Taxation 2024 Candidate Pledge - Getting 'em to sign
By Randy Fischer and Adam Yomtov
This week’s Grassroots Corner comes from Randy Fischer, our Marketing Team Leader and Board Member, and Adam Yomtov, who manages our donors and technology. Randy writes:
For roughly fifteen years, we have asked (begged, cajoled, or used nicely implied threats of non-support) for candidates to sign a pledge to support The FairTax Act. In some years, it was grabbed onto enthusiastically by those seeking office, mainly first-time candidates, however, incumbents were like, "Really, I support it but... ." Typically, this was followed by "I cannot give my opponents an opening to attack."
To counter this argument, two of us, Adam Yomtov and I studied what was happening, and we concluded that what we were REALLY asking candidates to pledge to three simple, timeless, and difficult-to-avoid-or-evade principles:

To counter this argument, two of us, Adam Yomtov and I studied what was happening, and we concluded that what we were REALLY asking candidates to pledge to three simple, timeless, and difficult-to-avoid-or-evade principles:
1. Elimination of the Federal Income-Tax System;
2. Elimination of the Internal Revenue Service; and
3. Repeal of the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
2. Elimination of the Internal Revenue Service; and
3. Repeal of the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
These are bedrock foundational concepts. There is no "exit" or "maybe" language. Most importantly, from a campaign perspective, the Pledge signer is immune from attack.
CALL TO ACTION
Go to the 2024 Candidate Pledge page, https://fairtax.org/candidate-pledges/no-more-income-taxes-2024-candidate-pledge, to view and download our new Pledge and for suggestions and instructions. We will be posting pictures as soon as possible on our Website and social media.
Identify who your Candidates are and ask them to sign our Pledge. Document with photos and videos. If they won’t sign, ask them why not? Make sure candidates understand that taxation, tax reform, and being able to feed your family before feeding the government are important to you and are likely important to ALL VOTERS.
With 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 33 Senate seats up for grabs along with The President of the United States, the primary and general elections offer MAJOR opportunities for FAIRtax to get supporters both from the campaigns and the general public. It is up to ALL of us to make the effort to contact the candidates. Get on social media if you can and look for FairTax on Facebook, FairTax_Official on X, or other sites like LinkedIn, Truth Social, and more to start promoting the Americans for Fair Taxation 2024 Candidate Pledge.
