GETTING OLD COSPONSORS BACK ON THE BILL

We need your help to get cosponsors from the last Congress back on the FAIRtax bill. In the last Congress, Buddy Carter, GA-01, sponsored the FAIRtax bill, HR25, with twenty-six cosponsors. The bill number is the same this year. Buddy Carter and eight of those cosponsors have returned to cosponsor the 2025 version of the bill.

In addition to the returning cosponsors, we have three new cosponsors, Richard McCormick, GA-06, Mark Harris, NC-08, and Andy Harris, MD-01. Andy Harris had previously been a cosponsor but was not on the FAIRtax bill last time. If  you live in their districts, please send them a thank you.

Here are the missing cosponsors from last time who returned. If you live in their districts – or even if you don’t – we need you to reach out to their offices and ask them to again cosponsor the FAIRtax, HR25:

Gus Bilirakis, FL-12
Kat Cammack, FL-03
Mike Collins, GA-10
Byron Donalds, FL-19
Virginia Foxx, NC-05
Marjorie Taylor Greene, GA-14
Barry Loudermilk, GA-11
Thomas Massie, KY-04
Ralph Norman, SC-05
Gary Palmer, AL-06
Tim Walberg, MI-05

Getting a previous cosponsor back on the bill is just as valuable as getting a new cosponsor. Every cosponsor counts and increases the likelihood that the FAIRtax will get out of the House Ways and Means Committee and down to the floor of the House for a vote.

Go to https://[CONGRESS_MEMBER’S_LAST_NAME].House.Gov, send them a message, call their office, or request a meeting in the district. Let them know you are a constituent. Our original sponsor, John Linder, said that the most influential source for an idea is a voting constituent.  Whether you live in the district or not, tell them in your own words why you support the FAIRtax.

Finally, here are the Congress Members who succeeded the departing cosponsors of last year’s bill:

Sheri Biggs, SC-03 (succeeded Jeff Duncan)
Michael Haridopolos, FL-08 (succeeded Bill Posey)
Shomari Figures, AL-02 (succeeded Barry Moore)
Joseph McGuire III, VA-05 (succeeded Bob Good)
Tom Suozzi, NY-03 (succeeded George Santos)

Give them a try. It cannot hurt.

Martin Stutzman, IN-03, succeeded prior cosponsor Jim Banks, who has moved on to the Senate. Please reach out to Stutzman and, if you live in Indiana, please also reach out to Senator Banks’ office. We need a Senate sponsor for a companion bill.

Prior cosponsor Matt Gaetz. FL-01 withdrew his bid to become the Attorney General of the United States, leaving a vacancy filled by a primary election that took place on January 28, 2025.  Republican  Jimmy Patronis will now face off against Democrat Gay Valimont in a general election to take place on April 1, 2025. The Congressional district has been in Republican hands since 1995, indicating that Patronis may have the edge. You can contact Patronis on his campaign site at https://joinjimmy.com/. If you find the website difficult to contact without donating, try contacting the campaign mailing addresses. His campaign address is PO Box 14684, Tallahassee FL 32317. His principal campaign committee is Friends of Jimmy Patronis, Inc., 421 Office Park DR, Mountain Brook AL 35223. You can contact those addresses by snail mail.

Finally, here are the returning cosponsors. If you live in their districts, please send them a thank you:

Biggs, Andy R-AZ-5
Burlison, Eric MO-7
Carter, John R. TX-31
Clyde, Andrew S. GA-9
Davidson, Warren OH-8
Loudermilk, Barry R-GA-11

Rutherford, John H. FL-5
Strong, Dale W. R-AL-5
