On July 30, 2020 FAIRtax Guys Bob Paxton and Ron Maiellaro and Ron’s Wife Elaine, Producer FAIRtax Power Radio, traveled to Winter Haven, Florida to present to The Winter Haven chapter of "The 9-12 Project". The "9-12 Project" was a group created by American television and radio personality Glenn Beck for the purpose of bringing us back to the place we were on September 12, 2001.
On that day, we were all Americans, with no obsession with red states, blue states or political parties, Czitizens of one united nation, under GOD.
This was The Florida FAIRtax Educational Association’s 3rd presentation to this group. In 2019 Steve Hayes and Ron presented to them. In March of this year, Bob, Elaine and Ron presented to them. Unfortunately, it was a rather sparsely attended meeting due to COVID-19, hence the return engagement in July. This presentation was well attended, well received and the chapter made a $50 donation to FFTEA. We thank our hostess Glynnda White. She and her Husband ran the meeting, implementing “social distancing” by spreading out groups of chairs into two rooms.
The team brought a number of promotional items to the event, including pocket cards, “prebate” cards, bumper stickers, and hats. The hats proved to be quite popular items and were all gone in fairly short order.
Bob and Ron started their presentation much as they start each episode of FAIRtax Power Radio with the time-honored unfurling and flashing of The FAIRtax scrolling banner.
After a tribute to Herman Cain and a refresher on the basics of The FAIRtax, Bob and Ron discussed Dana Perino’s interview with Stephan Moore.
Perino has a segment on her program called “The Big Idea” where influential people are asked about what programs or policies they would implement if cost and political opposition were not a factor. Moore, one of President Trump’s economic advisors, called for replacing the income tax with a consumption tax.
Although he didn’t specifically advocate for The FAIRtax, this is still noteworthy. Convincing people, and especially The President, the income tax must be replaced is the first step toward achieving real tax reform. Once that decision is made and the discussion turns to what a replacement for the income tax would look like, The FAIRtax becomes very attractive indeed.
Bob and Ron secured another Candidate Pledge at the event. Sergio Ortiz, candidate for The House (FL-09) eagerly signed on. This picture of Candidate Ortiz holding up his signed pledge is one of several pictures Elaine and Ron took during the event.There was another candidate for FL-09 at the event, Christopher Wright. The FAIRtax is new to him so Bob, Ron and Elaine answered the many questions he and his staff had. He seemed genuinely interested, but wants to study it before he commits.
