ALEX SCHNELL SIGNS THE CANDIDATE PLEDGE
Pennsylvania’s Third Congressional District includes several areas of the city of Philadelphia, including West Philadelphia, most of Center City, and parts of North Philadelphia.
Alex currently works as a Business Analyst supporting operations and process improvement through a partnership with the Philadelphia Parking Authority.
Alex’s background centers on analysis, problem-solving, and work with financial systems, including prior consulting work supporting finance teams in the pharmaceutical industry. He focuses on making complex systems easier to understand and manage, especially when they affect people’s day-to-day lives.
Alex became interested in the FAIRtax after managing his own finances. As he began investing and trading, he had to make quarterly tax estimates, so he built his own system to track income, losses, dividends, and changing thresholds. Later, while driving for Lyft following a layoff, he had to manage yet another layer of calculations around mileage, tips, and income tracking.
Navigating all of this made him realize how much time and effort are wasted just trying to follow the tax code, and how often our money is taxed between earning it and spending it. Over time, he came to believe the system could be simpler and clearer. The FAIRtax stood out as a practical approach that emphasizes transparency and gives people more control over their financial decisions.
After qualifying for the ballot, Alex faces a Republican primary on May 19, 2026. If he is successful, he will run in the general election on November 3, 2026, for the seat currently held by Dwight Evans, who is retiring.
