MEET CHAD HAGAN

The FAIRtax movement has benefited from gifted leadership, but the aging of its board members has been a challenge. To address this issue, the previous Board of Directors has been actively recruiting the next generation of leaders. The new leaders have become the new Board of Directors, and the immediate past Board of Directors is now the Executive Board.
This Grassroots Corner continues this series of introductions with Chad Hagan. Chad was previously on our Advisory Board.
Chad is an investor, author, and entrepreneur. He is the Managing Partner of Wessex Investments and the founder of Hagan Capital Strategies.
For more than two decades, Chad has advised on $2.5 billion in M&A transactions and private investments. His work includes managing funds with average annual returns exceeding 30%, overseeing restructurings, and investing across entertainment, real estate, natural resources, and specialty finance. He serves as a director and investor in a range of U.S. and European enterprises.
As an author, Chad has published multiple books, and his former economics site, Chaganomics.com, was permanently archived by the U.S. Library of Congress. His commentary appears in National Review, The Spectator, Fox Business, and other national and international outlets.
Chad is a director of the Hagan Family Foundation, founded in the 1990s, where he focuses on fiscal policy, environmental conservation, and the arts.
A long-time advocate of tax reform, Chad argues that the current U.S. income tax system is inequitable and economically distortive. Since his early involvement in President George W. Bush’s first campaign, he has supported replacing federal income tax with a simplified, single-rate system designed to eliminate punitive progressive taxation and protect working- and middle-class Americans.
Chad also runs the FAIRtax Political Action Committee.
Chad regularly advises policymakers and works with think tanks to promote free-market, cultural, and environmental policies.
He studied economics at Harvard University and the London School of Economics. He lives in metropolitan Atlanta with his wife, Emily
