Meet Fellow FAIRtax-er
Cary Henderson
Cary Henderson
FAIRtax-er Cary Henderson is keeping the movement alive in Southern California.
Cary is a Entrepreneur and founder of small businesses, with which he combines remarkable mechanical skills. After constructing Fussball games, Cary now rehabilitates old railroad passenger cars. FAIRtax Guy Bob Paxton works on locomotives so the two have a lot in common.
Cary once had a client with the means to purchase the insides of a temple in India and put Cary to work using the temple pieces to decorate a private automobile.
Cary soured on the income-tax when,
as he now remembers, the year was 1979.
as he now remembers, the year was 1979.
Cary was in a partnership with someone in the demolition business. Cary’s partner had enjoyed his first year making over $100,000. The partner wanted to reduce his tax liability for the year. The partner’s accountant advised him to make a donation of one of his loaders to a non-profit. Cary’s partner had 3 appraisals done of a loader and used the lowest for valuation.
The IRS case worker accepted the claim for a donation as a deduction. Then the IRS disallowed it.
The accountant argued with the IRS the donation met all the requirements and should be allowed. It was accepted again.
Some time passed and Cary’s partner received a check for some salvage for $6,000. Cary had a commission coming from the sale, and his partner wrote him a check. Cary and his partner deposited their checks, but next thing they knew the checks they wrote on the strength of the deposits for salvage were bouncing.
The IRS had re-opened the partner’s case and
seized his bank account.
Cary bought The FAIRtax book and has been a convert ever since. Cary is a frequent contributor and activist on FAIRtax social media. He follows FAIRtax Friday each week. Cary also doesn't shy away from picking up a list and making hundreds of phone calls.
Cary took an interest in Craig Sjoquist’s FAIRtax bike trailer, featured in an earlier Grassroots Corner. Cary requested plans and a budget so he could make more and parade them in Washington, D.C. When we can reach our critical mass of people there, we will put Cary to work.
Cary heard Your Editor would be in Los Angeles and contacted me to get together.
We had coffee in LA and here we are in the picture.
Cary is in the foreground.
