Grassroots Corner - August 9, 2019

FAIRtax is doing all right financially, but if we can kick it to a higher level, we can undertake activity only money can buy.  What do we need to do to get there?

The short answer is: grow the Grassroots membership. And you can help.

Why and how does growing Grassroots membership work?

FAIRtax expenses today are mostly fixed and do not depend on the size of our membership.  Our monthly “nut” includes the auditors, the website, the database, charitable solicitation registration, banking, and insurance, all for which we rely on the support of you our members.

FAIRtax saves costs because FAIRtax is run exclusively by Volunteers.  Our President Steve Hayes, over the past couple of years has aggressively slashed expenses.  When Steve was making his monthly trips to DC he used his own money.

And your Board Of Directors is taking the lead.  Your Board has a 100% participation rate in financially supporting FAIRtax.

If you need to update your card information, Please call Adam Yomtov on his mobile 917-689-3931 and give him your updated information.  Do not go to the website to try to update information yourself.  Your information will not be processed correctly.

Nearly all of our funds come from you our loyal Supporters.  This is a good thing.  Large donors are more motivated to fund specific projects when they see organizations such as FAIRtax fund their recurring expenses from membership.  We are better off relying on a large number of small to medium-sized donors among you who contribute regularly than on a small number of large donors.

To return to the original question - how does growing Grassroots membership provide extra funds?  The reason is fairly simple.  A larger group of supporters covering relatively fixed expenses means we start to have surplus funds to benefit the Grassroots.

Already we are providing event insurance to Volunteers in the field who set up tables, tents and booths promoting The FAIRtax (tell me in advance if you have plans for such an event).
