More than 800,000 direct deposits to New Jersey residents from the ANCHOR property-tax relief program will be on their way Tuesday, the state said Monday.
The first batch of payments will go out via direct deposit on Tuesday, the state Treasury Department told NJ Advance Media. Gov. Phil Murphy later mentioned it on his regular call-in television show.
Some recipients confirmed the payments were in their accounts Tuesday morning.
Paper checks won’t start going out until the first week in April, state officials said, noting the majority of payments will be issued before May 3.
More than 1.7 million people applied for the program, the Treasury Department said. That included 1.25 million homeowners and more than 514,000 renters, it said.
