During a discussion of the FAIRtax with a neighbor, she suggested that we could reach more people if we created a very short introduction to the FAIRtax and made it available as a downloadable booklet.  The idea was met with enthusiasm by many FAIRtax leaders here in Florida.  Terry Tibbetts, a volunteer in Ocala, FL, was asked to author the booklet since he is a published author and yet is still fairly new to the FAIRtax.  It was important to get a fresh perspective for this effort.
 
The goal of the booklet, America’s Big Solution, is to introduce people to the basic concepts of the FAIRtax without much of the jargon that sometimes surrounds the subject.  For instance, the booklet begins by discussing some of the many problems with the current federal income tax and the abuses by the IRS. The FAIRtax is introduced as a national consumption tax, a very different concept from what we are currently dealing with as individuals and businesses.  The advantages of the FAIRtax, such as simplicity, transparency and efficiency are presented. Also the point is made that the FAIRtax is the only true tax reform proposal, HR 25, in Congress at this time. 
 
Throughout the booklet, Mr. Tibbetts keeps a light hearted tone while discussing a very serious subject.  Many graphics have been incorporated into the booklet that have appeared on the Facebook page of Americans For Fair Taxation.  These graphics are meant to drive home some of the important features of the FAIRtax and contrast it to the current byzantine system of taxes, deductions, exemptions and class warfare.

Chances are if you’re reading this on FAIRtax Friday you don’t need a basic introduction to the FAIRtax. But what about your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers?  This booklet is suitable for anyone who is only vaguely familiar with the FAIRtax and is interested in learning more without a large investment in time or money. Please inform everyone you know about this new introduction to the FAIRtax.
