David Kendall is an economics professor at the University of Virginia. In 2005, he wrote a letter to President Bush’s newly formed advisory panel on tax reform that was co-signed by eighty other professional economists. This distinguished group of economists all urged the panel to recommend replacing the Federal income tax system with the FAIRtax. To no one’s surprise, the panel ignored Professor Kendall and his colleagues and failed to endorse the FAIRtax.
Recently, Professor Kendall sat down with FAIRtax Power Radio for a wide-ranging interview regarding taxation in America. In Part 1 of the interview, Professor Kendall takes a long, hard look from an economist’s perspective at what’s wrong with the Federal income tax. As you might imagine, the professor had quite a bit to say on that topic.
