Strategic Planning
FAIRtax volunteers have generally known what it takes to make the FAIRtax the center of national attention, but we needed a plan to get there. Our directors, delegates, and state leaders are now looking at the first draft of a plan, which will serve as a conversation starter and require many revisions. The draft was created with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
We have had plans, most notably a "Road Map" to victory, from our former director from Ohio, Steve Curtis. Steve's plan was detailed and well thought through. The problem was that we needed funds to implement it. In the meantime, social media developments have overtaken many aspects of Steve's plan.
Our former director, Phil Hinson, had been pressing for an in-person workshop with a paid facilitator to develop a plan. Such a plan would emerge with buy-in from a wide range of constituents. Again, funding was the issue.
The impetus this time was to have a plan to present to a potential donor who could provide the needed funding. Rich Germaine, who owns a national audiobook business out of Washington State, created a go-in plan with the assistance of AI and presented the plan to our directors, delegates, and state leaders. The plan includes major milestones, a promotion strategy, a timeline, required finances, a statement about the proposed team, and a “SWOT” analysis. SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. These elements are standard in strategic planning.
When we have a preliminary plan in place, we will bring it to the donor for comment. If the plan’s mission is "Pass the FAIRtax," it could serve as an action document for our “(c)(4)” entity, Americans for Fair Taxation, for whom contributions are not tax-deductible. Or if we want to use our “(c)(3)” entity, National Tax Research Committee, for whom contributions are tax-deductible, the mission would need to be more like “Educate Americans on the Benefits of Consumption Taxation.”
I would love to hear from you if you want to help us with a strategic plan.
