DAN BONGINO REAFFIRMS HIS SUPPORT FOR THE FAIRTAX
We thank our Alabama State Director, Chuck Bailey, for putting us on to a June 17, 2022 program from talk-show host Dan Bongino, where Bongino reaffirmed his support for the FAIRtax. Here is a transcript of the segment of his show beginning at Minute 52:04:
“Hey Dan,” writes BubbaDex, “What does your idea of a Fair Tax look like?”
Bongino had a lot to say:
"I love the actual FAIRtax, which is a consumption-based tax. Consumption is inherently the destruction of wealth. Right, I mean, when you consume wealth, you destroy it. I don’t mean in a bad way. You buy a hot dog, and you eat it. That's consumption. You’ve destroyed your wealth. It’s not a bad thing. You need to destroy your wealth to survive. It’s called spending money, right?
“However, I know the guys I love you to death. In a perfect world, if we had the votes, I would get that passed. The problem is the Left always portrays it as a sales tax hike which it isn't. I would just like to make it super simple at this point. I would love a FAIRtax. That's my optimum, so period. It's the best system out there.
“I would accept right now flat taxes across the board. Fifteen percent rate for everyone, cap gains, income, corporate, across the board. Imposts, excises, fifteen percent across the board. Everyone across the board. The FAIRtax is better, but for another day. That’s what it looks like. Pretty simple, not hard. But, that’s the beauty of it. It’s simple. There’s no reason to arbitrage money, like, uh, ‘I’m going to stick mine, uh, in the future gains through a hedge fund.’ Because it doesn’t matter, you're going to pay the same rate regardless. So, you might as well just pay income tax.”
Dan Bongino should look at our efforts in Georgia, Alabama, and Nebraska, where we have serious FAIRtax legislation underway at the state level. He might move the FAIRtax in his mind to the front burner.
Dan Bongino is a former New York City police officer and former Secret Service agent who was on the detail that protected Presidents Bush and Obama. Bongino left the Secret Service in 2011 to run for the U.S. Senate from Maryland. He was unsuccessful that time, but he must have made an impression on his incumbent opponent, Senator Ben Cardin. Cardin has advocated a hybrid of a FAIRtax-like tax with an income tax added on but only above $200,000 of income.
Dan Bongino learned about the FAIRtax through our Maryland FAIRtax State Director, Mark Schaff, who met with him and got his support. Mark, meanwhile, has moved to South Carolina, and we need a new leader in Maryland. If you live there, can you step up and help? Call, text, or email me!
We appreciate Bongino’s shout-out to us. You can contact the Dan Bongino Show at https://bongino.com/contact and get him talking more about the FAIRtax. Maybe you can ask him to tell his audience where to go to learn more about us.
I would love to hear from you about any personality you contacted.
