What Level of Supporter are you?
FAIRtax has a large base of support throughout the country, but the levels of activity and commitment vary. So, what level of supporter are you?
The question matters because FAIRtax lacks the budget to compete with other issue advocacy groups. We rely on our supporters to get the word out. The bright side is that our supporters vote; corporations with large budgets that advocate for other causes cannot. The more supporters we can gather, the more pressure we can put on Members of Congress to cosponsor and advocate for the FAIRtax.
One group of supporters passively receives communications but does little else. Let us call this group Level 3. If you are a Level 3 supporter, you can help the FAIRtax by talking to your family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues about the FAIRtax to at least make them aware of it. The more you talk about it, the more you learn, and the greater your engagement will become.
The next group of supporters undertakes tasks and projects when someone else asks. Let us call the group Level 2. If you consider yourself Level 2, you are a valuable team member. When you receive the call, you help us when you respond. Be sure to promote yourself to the next group of supporters to prepare for the political pendulum to swing towards us.
The last group of supporters are high-energy self-starters who actively seek ideas to promote the FAIRtax, execute them, and bring others along. Members of this group are rare and extremely valuable. If you belong to this group, we are thankful and need more like you. These folks act on Randy Fischer's call for meeting with a candidate and presenting the tax pledge. These people are active on social media and set up tables at gatherings and fairs. These people attend Congress Members' town halls and bring pocket cards and scrolling banners (be discreet; most do not permit signs).
We encourage Level 3 supporters to be active in areas of community life outside the FAIRtax. If, for example, you are a member of a local Democratic or Republican Committee or club, you have an insider advantage. Many people will know to associate you with the community and know of your FAIRtax advocacy.
Whatever level of FAIRtax supporter are, always ask yourself, “What have I done for the FAIRtax lately?”
