Stop the Hidden Payoffs

For as long as there have been people in governments that could bestow benefits and advantages on businesses and individuals, there has been the expectation that the businesses and individuals who want those benefits and advantages should pay for the favorable treatment they receive—usually with money or its equivalent.

In the United States, we’re supposed to believe that whenever a business or individual receives some kind of favorable treatment, those favors are really intended to benefit everyone.

It is actually a crime for Members of Congress to receive bribes.  Still, there was one famous case where a Congressman from Louisiana was caught with $90,000 in his freezer, and he’s far from being the only Member caught taking bribes.

Obviously, most elected officials receiving payments for services (bribes) don’t deposit the money in their bank accounts but in safety deposit boxes like the ones shown above.

While there may be laws prohibiting direct bribery of a Member of Congress, there is a convenient back door way for these elected officials to receive a “reward” while not violating any law.  Here’s how it works.

The party wanting a “special” favor from a Member of Congress hires a good lobbyist who “persuades” the Member or Members to enact the special legislation granting the “special” favor.  In return, the lobbyist purchases one or more tables at a Member’s fundraising dinner or donates to a PAC supporting the Member’s party.

Of course, it is even better if no one actually sees that the lobbyist’s client received a benefit.

Another Reason Congress Loves the Income/Payroll Tax Systems

Comparing the Corporate Tax Systems in the United States and China is the name of a study published by the Tax Foundation.  In addition to being a very detailed explanation of how utterly stupid our corporate income tax code is, it shows how China’s tax code is much more favorable to their corporations.

Of course, the FAIRtax fixes everything that’s wrong with the US corporate tax code, because it completely eliminates corporate income taxes.  The FAIRtax is levied only on the retail purchase of new goods and services.

Business-to-business purchases are not taxed.  Manufacturers will pay no tax when they purchase raw materials.  Equipment purchased for the production of their products is not taxed. Retailers will pay no tax when they purchase inventory from their suppliers.  Money paid by US corporations for research and development is also not taxed.  The FAIRtax will result in a significant decrease in the cost of doing business in the United States.

It's important to note that a US corporation that purchases raw materials, equipment and does research and development in other countries will likely be subject to taxation in those countries.

It doesn’t take a genius to understand what a tremendous boost the FAIRtax will be for American businesses and for the American economy in general.

However, the real benefit of this study to Members of Congress is that they can say with a straight face that they are looking to make changes to the US corporate tax code because it helps American companies be more competitive with their Chinese competitors.

Of course, when those changes are being considered, many millions of dollars will flow into the coffers of Washington lobbying firms as US companies seek to either protect the benefits they already have, or to carve out new ones.

And it’s an iron-clad certainty that a good portion of those dollars will find their way back to Members of Congress in the way described above.  It will be impossible to tie a specific contribution to a specific special benefit, and it will all be perfectly legal—exactly the way the lobbyists and Members designed it.

Confucius said, Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.

No one can really argue that enacting the FAIRtax will do more good for American businesses and the American economy than any number of “reforms” to the present system could possibly do.

Under the FAIRtax, U.S. companies:
  • Will have large financial incentives to purchase US-sourced raw materials.
  • Will have large financial incentives to purchase equipment made in the United States
  • Will have large financial incentives to do their research and development with US companies and institutions.
  • Will be much more competitive both domestically and abroad.
Of course, enacting the FAIRtax will also:
  • Eliminate the billions of dollars now paid to tax lobbyists.
  • Eliminate the billions of dollars now paid to the rest of the income/payroll tax industry.  This is an industry that creates no products, but simply helps those who can afford it take advantage of an incomprehensible and totally unnecessary income/payroll tax system.
  • Eliminate Congress’ ability to hide the special treatments and favors they grant deep in the tax code where they are extremely unlikely to be discovered.  The FAIRtax will force them to operate in the open by passing separate legislation.
  • Eliminate a powerful tool that the Ruling Elite uses to control us.  No longer can they use the threat of changing the tax law to direct our behavior and to make sure that no one dares to oppose them.
There are only two reasons that Members of Congress would oppose the FAIRtax:
  1. They don’t want to give up the lucrative income stream and the power that the income tax gives them over every day Americans.
  2. They simply can’t grasp a concept that is simple enough for a third grader to understand.
We all know it’s not number two.

The income/payroll tax system is broken and no longer working—we can’t repair it but we can replace it with the FAIRTAX!

We all should remember Edmund Burke’s warning that applies to our efforts to TAKE BACK CONTROL,
“Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little.”

We should also remember this quote from George Orwell's 1984, which, if we do nothing, may foretell your and your children's future:

“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever.”

What Can Each Of Us Do?

We can write letters and make calls to our elected representatives and attend Zoom town hall meetings demanding that if they really want to allow Americans to “TAKE BACK CONTROL”, the first step is to eliminate the income/payroll tax system and enact the FAIRTAX!

The IRS will be gone and we will pay our taxes when we make purchases.

WE and not the Ruling Class and their minions in D.C. will decide how much federal tax we pay!

WE will know how much tax we and everyone else are really paying because taxes will no longer be hidden from us.  It will be clearly shown on every retail receipt.

If you have friends who don’t know about the FAIRtax, send them to  Have them watch the white boards under “How It Works” and, if they agree, ask them to please join us.

Then contact your Members of Congress and the President and demand that Congress pass -the FAIRtax—the only fair tax

Is it hopeless?  When confronted with a seemingly impossible problem, remember the statement attributed to the author George Bernard Shaw who wrote, You see things; and you say “Why?”  But I dream things that never were; and I say “Why not?”

Isn’t it time for us to ask, “Why not?”
