Ever since I first entered the profession of public accounting as a CPA 47 years ago, I've pushed back for decades on the old liberal line that 'the rich should pay their fair share of taxes.
Again, I will push back; the top 1% of income earners pay 25% of all individual income taxes and the top 10% of taxpayers pay approximately 70% of individual income taxes. The bottom 50% of income earners pay about 3% of all individual income taxes.
So, the question is, and always has been, "what do you liberals think the so-called 'fair share' is"? This liberal talking point is one of the stalwarts in the liberal playbook.
