During an appearance on FBN’s “Mornings with Maria,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called keeping the House of Representatives in Republican hands the “biggest single challenge” for the Trump administration.
According to Gingrich, the way to do that was to pass tax cuts and deregulation before July 4, which would require a commitment from the Senate to have it done by the end of May.
“[H]ere’s the point, I would drive home,” he said. “They need to have the Senate commitment to pass the tax bill by May 31 to go to conference in June and to sign the bill by July 4. Reagan talked into having his tax cuts arrive late. We lost 26 seats in 1982.
