Reports said 89 percent of voters across the political spectrum agree that the state should provide more funds and said they strongly support a tax credit.
Over 50 percent of older Hawaii voters also said they would vote for a candidate that would support a caregiver tax credit.
“Our kupuna want to live at home as they age. They don’t want to go to expensive taxpayer-funded nursing homes if they can avoid it,” explained AARP Hawaii state director Kealii Lopez. “Now is the time for the Legislature to act and help save family caregivers time and money and provide more support.”
