A Few Reasons For Fairtaxers To Be Thankful
1. In this final session of the 113th Congress, the FairTax enjoyed 75 co-sponsors in the U.S. House and 8 in the U.S. Senate.
2. This past June, the directors of Americans For Fair Taxation® were replaced with directors elected by the grassroots.
3. During the November 4th mid-term elections, Republicans gained majority control of the House and Senate and both chambers’ powerful tax-writing committees. Ways and Means Chairman-Elect Paul Ryan and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch have already indicated they intend to change the scoring methodology currently used to evaluate all tax legislation - from static to dynamic. For more information, see Cindy Canevaro’s column on why this change is so important to the success of the FairTax campaign.
4. AFFT membership funds are now shared equally between AFFT and the home state of the paid member. AFFT memberships will give AFFT strength and negotiating power when talking to Congress and provide much needed revenues for the states and for AFFT.
5. FairTaxRewards.com is a new online mega shopping mall with over 2,500 of your favorite national retailers including Kohl’s, Walmart, Macy’s, Best Buy and Target. By entering your favorite stores through the FairTaxRewards.com mega mall, you can enjoy significant cost savings, CashBack earnings on everything you buy and also support CashBack earnings to AFFT.
6. In response to comments from FairTaxers and our social media consultants, a new FairTax.org is in development and is scheduled for completion in December.
7. A texting service is now in use giving FairTaxers the ability to provide individuals and audiences with a number that they can text to receive a link that will allow them to become a member of AFFT or receive more information on the FairTax campaign—all from the convenience of their smartphone.
8. To help the FairTax campaign more effectively reach a younger generation, those who actually have the most to gain from the enactment of the FairTax Plan, we are now rapidly growing our presence on social media.
9. Instead of having to “beg” for meetings with Members of Congress, many are contacting AFFT and suggesting a meeting and others are eagerly setting up meetings when we call.
A Personal Message
My family will have a particularly special Thanksgiving this year. On Friday, November 14, at 5:08 P.M. EST, we welcomed D’Artagnan Poulin, our first grandson. We are so grateful that he arrived healthy and full of vigor, and both he and our daughter are doing very well.
We wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving.
