The Georgia Experience
Georgia has long been a home for many national retail sales tax advocates. It was thanks to the efforts of these dedicated people that Neal Bootz became a FAIRtax adherent and he spread the message around the country. I am continually meeting people who live in states from California to Florida who listened to Neal and became FAIRtax advocates.
At the invitation of the Georgia FairTax board of directors, Bill Fogarty, Jay Franks, Tom Brown, Jim Duffie and Phil Hinson, it was my pleasure to address a large group of FAIRtax volunteers at their monthly meeting in Atlanta.
Phil Hinson picked me up at my hotel and we spent two hours with the Georgia FairTax board and then we went to the site of the meeting. People began arriving at 5pm and we had a pretty full house by the official start of the meeting at 6:30. What became immediately apparent was that the people with whom I met at this meeting were friendly but they were there for one purpose—to advance the FAIRtax.
For the next two and one-half hours, Tom Brown ran the meeting with efficiency and, after a briefing from me, there were reports from volunteers about their many activities. These people were doing things and not just talking about doing things.
If anyone has questions about how Georgia assembled this active group, I am sure that Tom, Phil, Jim, Bill or Jay will be happy to speak with you.
Thanks very much Georgia FAIRtax for what you do and for allowing me to share the excitement!
Telephonic Briefings
Several state directors have recently invited me to join their state conference calls and provide a briefing about our national activities. As long as we don’t have a conflict at the requested time, Peggy and I are happy to join your state call to provide information and to answer questions.
If you are interested in having Peggy or me join your state board of directors call, please email Peggy.Green-Ernst@FairTax.org.
The 1040 Club And AFFT’s Ability To Be A Presence In The Presidential Primaries
No one disagrees that our path to the enactment of the FAIRtax will be much easier if we have the active support of a President. We know that Mike Huckabee has been promoting the FAIRtax all across the country. In Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, we have the opportunity to force the other presidential candidates of both parties to consider the FAIRtax. How?
We can have our supporters go to the presidential forums and ask questions like, “Do you think that the special interests will ever pass a real flat tax?” And, “How long do you think it will stay flat?” And, “Doesn’t your flat income tax keep the IRS?” And, “How are you going to address income tax evasion?” And, “Why are you not supporting the elimination of the income tax and the IRS by endorsing the FAIRtax?”
These questions coming from different people over and over will expose the “myth” that all of these flat tax plans really represent change and are not just talking points. One or more of the presidential candidates will likely join Governor Huckabee in supporting the FAIRtax.
In order to be most effective, AFFT will need to help our Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina state organizations by providing material and full-time boots on the ground to help organize the volunteer efforts. This will require funding.
Some of this funding will come from donors but it can also be easily provided if enough people join the 1040 club. By agreeing to donate $10.40 per month, each of us is generating predictable money that can be allocated to these presidential primary activities. Please click here to join the 1040 club.

It is not required to actually make a purchase, but your minute of time will ensure that AFFT is paid ever larger amounts from people paying for us to send their offers to our supporters.
Again, we are making every effort to ensure that we work with only reputable companies.
