Grassroots Leadership

Twenty-two Americans For Fair Taxation directors  met in Nashville this past January 17th and January 18th and demonstrated that we are truly a grassroots organization.  All of the attendees paid their own expenses to attend and were all there because they want to ensure that the FairTax takes advantage of this rare opportunity.

Not only do we have two very motivated and excited Senate sponsors, Senator Moran from Kansas and Senator Perdue from Georgia and an energized Congressman Rob Woodall from Georgia, but we also have the decision that all tax legislation will be scored in a way that much more accurately predicts the impact of tax policy.  

Instead of using what many economists have called the “brain dead” approach that tax increases or decreases do not affect economic activity, now the acknowledged positive effects of the FairTax will have to be factored into the calculation.  

All of us left Nashville convinced that we can go back to our states and tell people that the FairTax is really out in front.  

10.40 Plan 

One of the exciting funding vehicles that came from the Nashville meeting is the idea that we can support our organization if only 3000 of us make the commitment to contribute $10.40 per month to AFFT.  3000 out of the 316 million inhabitants of the United States is less than one-thousandth of one percent.  This means that if 60 people in each state donated $10.40/month, that the basic overhead of AFFT would be covered.  Then we would be in a much stronger position to approach larger donors for special projects that will propel the FairTax in an unstoppable way.
