Tax Reform Momentum Is Growing
Peggy and I were in D.C. this week and had the opportunity to congratulate Kevin Brady, the new Chairman of the Ways And Means Committee. Chairman Brady was his normal gracious self.
Chairman Brady expressed his confidence that there was going to be comprehensive tax reform in 2017. He pointed out that all of the Republican candidates were promoting tax reform proposals. This would almost guarantee that the Republican nominee would be promoting his or her plan during the campaign and that the Democrat nominee would be hard pressed not to also discuss tax reform.
Another important point made by the Chairman is that a President normally is able to move serious legislation in the first eight months of their term and that he wanted to be ready to help in any way.
He plans to hold hearings in 2016 about all types of tax reform, but it is comforting for advocates of the FAIRtax that a person who has been a long-time cosponsor of the FAIRtax will be heading the committee that will ultimately propose a bill to be considered by Congress. From my conversations with him, I am confident that he sees the advantages of the FAIRtax. I also have confidence that we will have our best opportunity for the FAIRtax to receive a “fair” hearing.
At the conclusion of our meeting, the Congressman’s office took this photo of Peggy, Chairman Brady and me. This was very nice of them but later that day, the photo was posted on the Congressman’s FaceBook page with the following text, Met with team from Americans For Fair Taxation this morning. I am proud to be an original cosponsor of H.R.25, FairTax Act of 2015. #FAIRtax.
December D.C. Trip
Peggy’s report next week will detail the results of our other meetings. They were quite positive and it is refreshing to see how the Members are responding to our requests to meet.
1040 Club
To those of you not familiar with the 1040 Club, AFFT is asking people to contribute $10.40 per month to AFFT. This provides a steady funding platform and allows us to spend our time not trying to raise money but actually working with groups to help make passage of the FAIRtax a reality. Thanks to each of you who have joined the 1040 Club. You are ensuring that Americans For Fair Taxation can continue to promote the FAIRtax.
If you are not a member of the 1040 Club, or if you are a member but want to join for someone else, please go to this link and sign up.

Thank You For Opening The FAIRtax Chronicles, Our Sponsored Mailings
We plan to do several of these mailings each month. If you take a minute to open the sponsored emails and click through to the website, you are making an in kind contribution to AFFT. It is not required to actually make a purchase, but your minute of time will ensure that AFFT is paid ever larger amounts from people paying for us to send their offers to our supporters.
Again, we are making every effort to ensure that we work with only reputable companies. If you feel that any FAIRtax-sponsored email is objectionable, please email us at info@fairtax.org and tell us why. You can also opt to not receive these sponsored email messages but still receive FAIRtax emails.
Thank you for staying FairTax strong!
